Founded in 1998 by Sarel Cilliers and Charles King, Probins Verhurings BK began as a small, passionate venture serving the agricultural community of the Boland. Built on trust, hard work, and integrity, the business quickly earned a reputation for providing reliable, high-quality wooden fruit bins to farms and packhouses across the Western Cape.

For more than 20 years, Probins was more than just a bin supplier — it was a business rooted in family values and service to the local farming community. After the passing of founders Sarel and Charles, it marked a chapter that could have closed. But in 2024, their brother Lofty du Toit and nephew Du Toit Cilliers stepped in to carry the vision forward. With the same commitment to quality and a heart for the industry, they breathed new life into the business while honouring everything it was built on.

With new leadership came new growth. Probins has since relocated to a larger, more efficient site on a farm just outside of Ashton, offering improved space, access, and capacity to better serve clients.

What makes Probins truly special is not just its products — it’s the people. The team is a close-knit group that feels like family, with many members having been part of the business for years. From trained forklift operators to skilled craftsmen in the workshop, everyone plays a vital role in upholding the standards and care that define the company’s name.

Probins is also deeply committed to sustainability, embracing the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. Offcuts from bin production are repurposed into custom items like garden planters and braai crates, reducing waste while creating something useful and lasting.
